Galp Energia, partner in the consortium for the exploration of Area 4 in the Rovuma basin, offshore Mozambique, announces the successful execution of the appraisal campaign for the Agulha discovery, in the southern part of Area 4.
The delineation was carried out through the Agulha-2 appraisal well, which was drilled 12 kilometres South of the Agulha-1 discovery well and proved about 25 metres of gas column in good quality Paleocene reservoir sandstones, confirming the southern extension of the field.
This is the twelfth well successfully drilled in Area 4, where total resources discovered are estimated at approximately 85 Tcf of gas in place.
The appraisal well Agulha-2 was drilled in a water depth of 2,603 metres and reached a total depth of 5,645 metres. The well is located approximately 80 kilometres off the Cabo Delgado coast.
